Alastair: Welcome Cristian, its a pleasure that I welcome you to the Pickle Public Relations & Communications fold. So firstly, tell me about some of your work to date?
Cristian: Thank you Alastair. Well, I was doing a lot of portraits until a summer´s evening about a year ago when I walked past a hairdresser´s salon in shoreditch. You can say that this kind of changed my direction in my photography. In the window of the salon there was a framed picture with a hair setup so fantastic, I had never seen anything like it before! I had to go in there and ask what that was, and who´s work it was. Cecile the salon manager told me this was the hairdresser Jerome Hillion´s winning entry to the British Hairdresser Awards, and I simply had to meet him.
Only a couple of weeks later me and Jerome did our first shoot together, and since then I have become very fond of hair and beauty-photography, which takes up a lot of what I create right now.
C: ah, http://bogdan.co.uk Well, Alastair, my online-folio is now in three parts, which are also my main three interests in photography. Hair, Beauty & Fashion, Music and Portraits.
On Hair, Beauty & Fashion the first three images are avant-garde creations by Jerome. I wanted to have a slightly alien look to them, therefore the cyan skintones and the red contrasts in the hair. I really like the combination of hot / cold! The black & white /brownish images are a men´s Hair collection "Tribal Gardé" that we did to celebrate the Hair and Jerome Salon being open for one year and our collaboration during that time. They have actually just been printed in a big feature in Creative Head Magazine! The picture´s outdoors in the field are works I did while still in Sweden - must be 3-4 years now!
In the music section the first seven images are of rock band Eyelash, a very anti-cliché rock-band that you are going to hear a lot about soon! The rest on the images on there are various artists, a good blend of pop-singers, hip-hop, rock, and electro..
The last section, portraits really contains my first love in photography - I love just shooting interesting people and personalities. Their eyes contain so much feeling and information about their experience, and it is a privilege to get to come so up close to people. I have to admit, I have fallen in love with some of my subjects. I think I often choose to photograph people that I really like personally.
Alastair: Thank you Cristian for enlightening me on your work. I'm already a fan of your work! Thank for speaking to me about your photography.
