News & Developments

There has been so much happening of late, its been quite difficult to update the blog at the right times! I apologise to my loyal readers worldwide. In fact I did do a check on who reads this, as far as the other side of the world, but also, in Russia, Hawaii and Africa. I hope its all good reading.

I thought I'd make a quick summary of photos to show whats been happening with Pickle PR and the achievements once again in the past month or so. I hope you enjoy!

FINALIST YOUNG BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR 2008/9

Its with great pleasure I have to announce that myself MR Alastair J Gourley has been shortlisted as finalist in the Hertfordshire Business Awards, Young Business Person of the Year Award for the current year. The gala event unfortuantely is on Thursday night - of which I'll still be in Australia (and no, I haven't had to do an acceptance speech via satalite, I'm not Leona Lewis lol)

Alexander Longe visually stole the show at Fashion Never Sleeps, on Friday night, with their 40's inspired Spring Summer Collection at this off schedule show in Holborn.

Channel U were quick to drag cheif designer Caz Longe who was there to over see the event, for an interview about fashion and the Alexander Longe couture collection.

On Saturday 23rd August celebrations continued into the early hours, as popular East London salon Hair&Jerome celebrated its 2nd birthday at The Dispensary, Leman Street, East London. A selection of high profile guests enjoyed complimentary wine and east end themed canapés throughout the night. Jerome Hillion, Creative Director, and his colleagues were all present at the party mixing with the eclectic group that had formed to celebrate another successful year of hairdressing at the Spitalfields salon.

The night itself was bursting with sophistication with guests ranging from the fashion and design set, as well as journalists. Among those attended included acclaimed celebrity photographer Stephanie Rushton, and fashion designers Massimo Casagrande and Ivana Koceva. Guests were also give a preview of the new Hair&Jerome web site that now includes the fantastic fashion inspired ‘Winter Collection’, now relaunched at www.hairandjerome.co.uk

Jerome Hillion won ‘Avant Garde Hairdresser of the Year 2005/6’ at the British Hairdressing Awards. His reputation of being a creative genius is expressed in his authentic photograph collections, as well as his brainchild, ‘Hair&Jerome’, the salon based at Artillery Passage, Spitalfields. Hair&Jerome, is unique and has featured in the press for its design quality, and remains a hot favourite with its ever-loyal clientele. Hair&Jerome was recently featured once again as one of London’s top hairdressers in Time Out August 2008 online feature.

Jericho wins New York trip

Graduate stylist Kayleigh White, of Jericho Hairdressing’s Woodley salon along with her client has won a trip to New York, in a competition organised by professional hairdressing product brand Paul Mitchell and Salon Success UK.

The competition ran recently between March and June, and involved the salon’s stylist recommending products to their client. The Jericho client, then completed a competition form having purchased the desired home haircare products, and last week the winners were selected! ‘I am overwhelmed that I’m one of the winners, and I can’t wait to hit the streets of NYC and buy myself some Manolo Blanik’s, and to think its all just part of the job, I’m so pleased!’ says Kayliegh White.

Jericho Hairdressing has recently hit the headlines when their stylists discovered they were doing the wedding hair of Autumn Kelly’s family, who were all attending the Autumn Kelly and Peter Philips royal wedding in Windsor. Jericho’s successful business relationship with Paul Mitchell is long established and only last year were rewarded with a trip to Rome for two top performing stylists. By Appointment ...Jericho Hairdressing!

Jericho Hairdressing was chosen as the salon to provide the hairdressing for what was to be a very special occasion, and an honour for the unsuspecting hairdressers of the salon group. Only 30 minutes before, the long term booking of 24 appointments at a local hotel to the salons, were they to know they would be preparing the grandmothers of the bride, Edith McCarthy and Ivy Kelly who were about to become relatives of the Royal family. The stylists also prepared Autumn Kelly’s goddaughter, who was to be the weddings flower girl!

Canadian Autumn Kelly and her fiancé, Peter Phillips, the 30-year-old son of Princess Anne, married at St. George's Chapel in Berkshire. Phillips, the eldest grandchild of the Queen, will be the first of her grandchildren to wed. The mother of Autumn Kelly is a hairdresser by trade in her native Montreal.

Stylists, Michaela Chapman and Amy Gemmel of Jericho Maidenhead, Leigh Swadling and Sophie Glover of Jericho Bracknell, had the privilege of representing their salon and British hairdressing to the family, on this exceptional day. Michaela Chapman said 'It was truly an amazing shock to find out suddenly who I was going to be doing the hair for, but then again, at Jericho we pride ourselves on our work so why not!'.

Alyn Davies, Director of Jericho Hairdressing group said ‘We are extremely proud to be able to be part of this special occasion and also proud that our stylists have this opportunity. I've included a few photos of the recent ivana K. Autumn Winter party, that was held on March 12th at Potassium on Seymour place. The event was a unique preview at the designers latest collection and past collection pieces. Attending by the industry journalists as well as friends and supporters alike, the night was a huge success, and I must admit, I did like the pink fizz.

The lucky winner of course has been made into a queen, of a sorts, and the salon group are now planning a 'Readers Evening' for the salons, watch this space.

Ask and ye shall find out. Bellasugar in the United states have been following and supporting the Hair&Jerome brand for the past year and the latest addition to their site was an interview that Jerome Hillion did, not so long ago, just to get things straight. Read on....

HAIR&JEROME -THEE EVENT

After much preparation, sweat and worry (Alastair) - organisation, things not going to plan and the occasional cigarette (Cecile) - a cool cat, where no project too invasive (Jerome) Hair&Jerome's event thrown for charitable doings was a smash hit, both attracting a full house of a mixture of friends, family and clients, as well as an encouraging amount of fashion press and industry press.

The night was greeted in with champagne and cocktails and our designers shows from Cross+Spot as well as the uber exciting new designer talent ivana K.

The night, a huge success went on well past midnight, with lots of fun had by all. I can vouch for that. I present some photographic evidence of what fun it was.

Hertfordshire's Employee of the year?

You seen it first, yes, in dashing velvet.

Yes its true, Alyn Davies, owner of the Jericho group, kindly gave his two leading team members tickets to jet off to Rome for the weekend! Very generous. I think i'd have gone myself - but we all know me.

Toni&Guy Hemel Hempstead WIN another trophy for the shelf

Toni&Guy Hemel Hempstead, picked up 'Staff Team of the Year 2007 Awards' at their local Dacorum Business Awards, who amongst present was ex Bucks Fizz singer Cheryl Baker. A good night had by all, and a beautiful trophy now sits on the sit proudly at Toni&Guy Hemel Hempstead.

JERICHO PULL OUT THE STOPS FOR PINK DAY

Jericho Hair in Berkshire pulled out all the stops for their PINK day! So much fun it was to put together it was no wonder that when the papers in the local area were tipped off, the phone was ringing off the hook!

Stage Revisited

Hair&Jerome, now about to stage their first show are preparing a special presentation for journalist and charity supporters alike. I thought it was a good opportunity to re visit the Schwarzkopf stage, of their recent presentation at Salon international. Hair&Jerome like any technology and innovative business uses Facebook to showcase the up to the minute behind the scenes photographs.

Jerome Hillion & Misook Jang WOW audience at Salon International

It was 11 am on Sunday morning, 14th October - Misook Jang and Jerome Hillion took the stage to wow a packed audience with avant garde hair and quirky fashion with an excellent two part show. The audience was internationally filled with with flashes from their digital camera's, no doubt inspired and ready to bring their images back to their salons, and their countries.

October 26th 2007 is the date that Camden's KoKo venue will become alive once again with creativity of a different kind! Schwarzkopf Creative Team of the Year will be staged at the famous venue, as 12 hairdressing creative teams battle it out to become the Schwarzkopf Creative Team of the Year 2007. Pickle Pulic Relations are pleased to announce that Jericho Hair as well as Toni&Guy Hemel Hempstead will feature in the finalists line up on the night. Richard Munslow, of Toni&Guy Hemel Hempstead took the stage when awarded the 'Global Creative Marketing Award' at the annual Toni&Guy Mainstage 07 event held at Olympia Exhibition Centre in London on Sunday 7th October. Pickle Public Relations has worked with the salon on many initiatives over the past year, and also would like to congratulate Richard Munslow & team on winning this very much deserved award. Richard Munslow, since the day he opened his successful franchise of Toni&Guy has adapted a forward thinking and carefully thought out approach to salon business. Winning the creative marketing award, against global competition, says it all.

Jerome HIllion to take the stage for Schwarzkopf

Jerome HIllion is due to take the stage at this years international Salon International show. The only show to be at within the industry kicks off on October 13th 2007 and promises to be the best yet. Schwarkopf presentations on Sunday will feature Jerome Hillion showcasing his creative talents along with team member Misook Jang.

Toni&Guy's annual Mainstage presentation to its global following takes place on Sunday 7th October 2007 in London. Amongst the many activities including a show and an afterparty at London club, The Egg, there is also the annual business awards kicking off the whole day. Incredible Week....

This week has been an incredible week, with news bursting at the seams. Without saying too much there is a very special event in the planning, for November. London Fashion Week is over and PicklePR friend, stylist to the best in the business KABIR was pictured catching a few shows in the Guardian Online! Super shows for spring summer 2008.

Toni&Guy Hemel Hempstead are confirmed to both be appearing in the Schwarzkopf Creative Team Award show at KOKO in Camden recently made famous as the venue for Madonna's Confessions return! After that the Toni&Guy Hemel Hempstead creative team will also be looking after the editorial look for the Hertfordshire Lifestyle Magazine for the Christmas edition.

For the moment, if you know of any salon that would require public relations delivered in an upbeat, innovative and new manner please direct them my way! Always happy to take on new accounts with new challenges.

And doing my bit for international new artists, although the very delicious Mr Danny K isn't new to South Africa, he is relatively new to us here in London. His two albums are huge sellers, and he really does rock. I've included a photo of him, seeing as he's also, very easy on the eye.
